# How to credit TickerInside data

The credit line for TickerInside data, ready to copy as plain text, Markdown, HTML, a notebook cell, BibTeX, CSL-JSON or one sentence for an AI answer.

Canonical page: https://tickerinside.com/attribution/
Data as of 2026-10-12. Published by TickerInside, edited by VoidLab.

TickerInside's own work is published under CC BY 4.0, which asks for credit where its figures appear. Every fund, stock and comparison file already carries that credit as one line, `cite_as`, and as HTML in `cite_html`. This page gives the same line in each form it is pasted in: plain text, Markdown, HTML, a Jupyter notebook cell, BibTeX, CSL-JSON, and one sentence an assistant can append to an answer.

## What a credit says

Each line names TickerInside, what the figure is, the file it comes from and that file's date, the address where it can be checked, and the licence. A link is welcome wherever the medium allows one; where it does not, the name and the address in text are enough, which is why every form prints the address in full. How you mark the link is up to you. No line carries a tracking parameter, an image or a script.

## The data as a whole

Use these lines for a project, a paper or a notebook built on TickerInside's data as a whole. The lines below carry the date of the data this page was built from, 2026-10-12: give the date of the data you used.

**Plain text**

```text
TickerInside, US ETF holdings, data through 2026-10-12, https://tickerinside.com/, CC BY 4.0
```

**Markdown**

```markdown
[TickerInside](https://tickerinside.com/), US ETF holdings, data through 2026-10-12, <https://tickerinside.com/>, [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)
```

**Jupyter notebook cell**

```python
Markdown("[TickerInside](https://tickerinside.com/), US ETF holdings, data through 2026-10-12, <https://tickerinside.com/>, [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)")
```

**BibTeX**

}
```
**CSL-JSON**
```

**AI answer**

```text
```

In a footer or a credits screen, where no date is needed, one line can do it:

**HTML for a footer**

```html
Data: <a href="https://tickerinside.com">TickerInside</a> (CC BY 4.0)
```

## A fund file

For a figure from one fund, the line is its file's own `cite_as`. For VOO, from https://tickerinside.com/api/v1/fund/voo.json: another fund's line names its own file and that file's date, the issuer's file or the SEC filing it was read from.

**Plain text**

## A stock file

For the funds that hold a stock, the line is the stock file's `cite_as`. For NVDA, from https://tickerinside.com/api/v1/sec/nvda.json, where each holder also carries the date of its own fund's file:

**Plain text**

```text
TickerInside, Nvidia (NVDA), holders from each covered fund's own file and from SEC Form N-PORT filings, each dated, prices through 2026-10-12, https://tickerinside.com/stock/nvda/, CC BY 4.0
## A computed answer
The answers the API computes when asked, an overlap, a look-through or a screen, carry no line of their own, since their address holds the question. Credit the address you called, or the page of a fund the answer names, with the date of each fund's file from `holdings_as_of`. For https://tickerinside.com/api/v1/overlap?funds=VOO,QQQ on the files of this build:
## The holdings history and the ETF flows
The holdings history and the ETF flows computed from it are not under CC BY 4.0. They are free per request under their own terms (https://tickerinside.com/legal/#history), with the same credit: a link to the file wherever the medium allows one, and the name where it does not. Their line names those terms in place of the licence, as for SPY's history, https://tickerinside.com/api/v1/history/spy.json:
**Plain text**
```text
TickerInside, SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), holdings history from the issuer's files of 2026-09-02 to 2026-10-12, https://tickerinside.com/api/v1/history/spy.json, TickerInside history terms

## What the licence covers

CC BY 4.0 covers TickerInside's own work: the figures it computes, the texts it writes and the way it selects and arranges the data. Fund holdings remain the issuers' publications, and SEC filings are public records. The legal notice gives the full terms: https://tickerinside.com/legal/#licence. The API reference gives the fields each file carries: https://tickerinside.com/api/#cite.
